You can find health insurance quotes online that are pretty inexpensive. has a short form you fill out and you can get rates from a bunch of different providers.

In my state at least, if you had previous insurance you can get another insurance while still being covered for those preexisting conditions. so for instance, if you lose your job and are no longer covered by group insurance you can get cobra insurance until you find other individual insurance and all companies will be forced to cover preexisting conditions. so as long as you have insurance before the condition starts then you are covered. its the risk you take of not getting insured while you are healthy.

Allow the insurance company actuarial specialists determine what is the appropriate price to charge and then the "customer" can carefully read the contract (or have their Lawyer read it) and choose.
Affordable? Probably not; but it is legal.
Government dictates are extortion and tyranny.
Where we get into trouble is having the purchaser of the policy buy the cheapest contract he can find, never read it, and then when the Legal Limits of the Contract are reached, complain when the Insurance Company has fully complied with the policy and informs the customer that the their obligation is ended.
It is NOT the fault of the Insurance Company that the customer bought too little coverage.
The profit margin for Insurance Companies is less than the WASTE of money we experience as a result of the Government attempting to Extort our money, Dictate how it is spent and the overhead of Corruption.
PUNISH the Hell out of any Insurance Company that doesn't fulfill its Contractual Obligations.
Wrongs are committed on all sides of this issue, so PUNISH the Hell out of anyone involved in Insurance Fraud.
The Government can not and must not be allowed to Dictate that the Insurance Companies cover Pre-Existing conditions and pass that cost on to all of us. That is tantamount to the Government using Private Corporations to Collect (extort) Tax Dollars to operate a Welfare System.
Illegal! Unconstitutional!
Since there is no answer to how the Government can Legally Force the Insurance Companies to extort their tax dollars for them, I guess they will Have to pass a Law to make it legal.
(Like That will happen without a big fuss. HA!)

I think it really depends on your priority. Both our political parties, it seems that their top priority is the profits of the handful of corporations that own our health care. Obama's plan, like Clinton's plan, like GHW Bush's plan, puts profits ahead of actual health care. Obama began his campaign promising he'd fight for a single payer plan, but later in the campaign, after accepting money from the health care companies, he changed his mind. He wasn't able to propose anything that might possibly hurt their profits.

The only real answer is public-funded single-payer insurance. Then everyone is covered, all in the same big pool. Some states have 'community pricing' (I think it's called) where insurance companies have to charge everyone the same rates regardless of pre-existing conditions. That's fairer to people with pre-existing conditions, but you still have the problem of people waiting until they get sick before getting insurance. Which I agree is wrong.

There are enormous savings to be had in a single-payer system. All the countries that use this plan--Canada, France, Germany, Australia, etc.--get as good care as we do but pay about half what we do. It's just the most logical way to do it. Let insurance companies sell supplemental insurance for people who have to have a single room in the hospital or whose kids might need orthodontia or something.

When Republicans brag that we have 'the best health care system in the world', what they really mean is that our health care system generates the most profits. And the most political funding.

Yes you can do this. When you get the new car you just bring in the cars information and tell them you want to switch the insurance to the new car. it is easy and it should not cost anything if you are up to date on your payments. You may get the new paperwork and cards on the old cars, but the insurance company will just make a new one with your new car on it instead of the old one and mail you a new card and paperwork. The place you pay at if you have the office in your town will give you a temporary card until they make up the real one, and you can use the temporary card until you get the real one.

" if you don't like the mandate, how would you get insurance companies to provide affordable insurance to people with pre-existing conditions without a requirement for everyone to have insurance"

Exclude coverage for pre-existing conditions. Durrr.....

Then if people don't buy insurance until they get sick, they have no one to blame but themselves.

"Your solution has to cover the situation where a person gets laid off, wants to start their own business, and needs to buy affordable individual coverage (not group coverage) for themselves and their family."

HIPAA. Durrrr....

You really don't have a clue about health insurance. These problems were all solved BEFORE Obamacare. Obamacare has only thrown a wrench into the solution that was working for years.

It depends on what company you're with, but you SHOULD just be able to swap one car for another. The rate will probably be a little different, but the policy number should remain the same. They'll also have to send you an updated liability card to reflect the change in vehicles.

as an independent contract which this will be you will file on sch C and if the ''net' amount is $400 or more you will pay self employment tax, approx. 15.3% of the 'net' on Sch SE
and yes, the cost of the insurance required to do the job will be an expense you can deduct on the C
any insurance agent can get you liability insurance
